1. Who we are
Factsheet Six is operated by Ozonagram Ltd, a company incorporated in Canada, with a registered address at Suite M162, 110 Didsbury Road, Ottawa, Ontario K2T 0C2. For privacy matters, contact us at legal@ozonagram.com.
2. What data we collect
Users (writers and readers)
- Name, email address, and password (hashed) on registration
- Country and timezone (optional, for display purposes)
- Language preference
- Billing data processed by Paddle (we do not store card numbers)
Newsletter subscribers
- Email address and name (optional) provided at subscription
- Timestamps for confirmation, subscription, and unsubscription
- Language preference
- Hashed IP address for view deduplication (not stored in identifiable form, expires after 24 hours)
Usage data
- Post and newsletter page views — counted in aggregate, including device type, country derived from browser timezone, and referrer domain. Never linked to a specific individual.
- Email open rates (via Zedmail ZES, our transactional email service)
- Aggregate site statistics via Matomo Analytics, self-hosted on our Canadian infrastructure — cookieless, no personal data collected.
3. How we use your data
We use your data to:
- Provide and improve the Factsheet Six platform
- Send transactional emails (confirmation, welcome, newsletter posts)
- Process paid subscriptions via Paddle
- Prevent abuse and maintain security
- Measure aggregate site usage to improve our offering
- Comply with our legal obligations
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell or rent your data to third parties.
4. Legal basis for processing
We process your data on the basis of:
- Your consent — when you register or subscribe to a newsletter
- Contract performance — to deliver the services you have requested
- Legitimate interest — for security, fraud prevention, and service improvement
- Legal obligation — where required by law
5. Writers and subscriber lists
Writers who publish on Factsheet Six are independent data controllers for their subscriber lists. Ozonagram Ltd acts as a data processor by providing publishing and sending infrastructure on their behalf. Writers may export and delete their subscriber lists at any time. By subscribing to a newsletter, you are also subject to that writer's privacy practices.
6. Subprocessors
We engage the following subprocessors. We do not share your data with any other third parties except where legally required.
- OVH Canada (Montréal, Canada) — server hosting. All data remains in Canada and is not subject to the US Cloud Act.
- Zedmail ZES (Ottawa, Canada) — transactional email delivery service. Operated by Ozonagram Ltd on our own Canadian infrastructure.
- Bunny.net (Ljubljana, Slovenia, EU) — content delivery network (CDN) for static assets. European company, GDPR compliant, no US Cloud Act exposure.
- Paddle (London, UK) — payment processing. Acts as Merchant of Record; responsible for VAT, refunds, and payment disputes.
- Unsplash (Calgary, Canada) — stock photography available to writers when creating posts.
- Matomo Analytics — self-hosted on our own OVH Canada infrastructure. Cookies are disabled; no personal data is collected or transmitted outside our servers.
7. Data retention
- User accounts: retained until account deletion
- Newsletter subscribers: retained until unsubscription or deletion by the writer
- Email logs: 12 months
- Aggregate view data: indefinitely (non-personal)
- Matomo browsing statistics: 13 months, then automatically deleted
8. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and associated data
- Object to processing in certain circumstances
- Export your data in a readable format
- Withdraw consent at any time

9. Cookies and analytics
Factsheet Six uses only a strictly necessary session cookie to maintain your login. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
We use Matomo Analytics, self-hosted on our own Canadian infrastructure, to measure aggregate usage of the platform. Matomo is configured without cookies — it does not set any cookies in your browser and does not collect personal data. No cookie consent banner is required.
10. Security
Your data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Access to production data is restricted to authorised personnel. HTTP security headers (HSTS, X-Frame-Options, etc.) are enabled across all our servers.
11. Children
Factsheet Six is not intended for anyone under the age of 16. By registering, you confirm you are at least 16 years old.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be notified by email or posted on the site. The effective date appears at the top of this page.
